I’ve stayed in quite a few rentals found here on VRBO but I’ve never stayed somewhere where I truly felt like I was at a home. The house is filled with personal items, books, DVDs, music, etc… The kitchen has anything and everything you might need as it relates to tools, gadgets, appliances, etc…. If I’m being honest it has more in it than my own (seriously). And I can’t say enough good things about our hostess Jennifer. She greeted us upon arrival and contacted us multiple times during our stay to make sure we had everything we needed. Graciousness at it’s finest. Not a surprise in Louisiana but still to be applauded. Bonne Terre is truly a home away from home although home is never this peaceful.
A friend and I stayed for 3 days as an end of school art retreat. Jen is a perfect hostess. She checked with us everyday to see if we needed anything. The house was completely stocked with anything we needed. It was like being at home. The front porch was my favorite place to be and create art. The view of sweet Mathilda made it perfect!
My wife and I stayed for a weekend not too long ago and Bonne Terre Cottage is still on our minds. We found rest, relaxation, fellowship, and a rejuvenated spirit. The house is very spacious with many sitting areas. The bathrooms are very nice. Super clean house. Country-living landscape with several farm animals big and small seen in the short distance. The host, Jennifer Gray, is just about the sweetest person we have ever met. Super accommodating and more than willing to make sure our stay was the absolute best it could be. We definitely plan to make many more trips to Breaux Bridge and stay again. It’s a destination I very highly recommend.
This was a quick getaway for our 16th wedding anniversary and we couldn’t have chosen a better place, or area, for a quiet place out in the country, but still close to the most amazing place in America for foodies like us! We decided against Hot Springs, AR, and decided to go south, instead. We had one very high expectation, though, and that was some good coffee, which was provided by Jen there at the house. We made a cup not long after arriving and used the handy milk frother. I sat down on the little sofa in the sunroom, took a sip and my cares immediately slipped away.
The house was just beautiful, clean, & had plenty of room. The kitchen had everything we needed and I especially enjoyed the library of books. The local places we recommend, and enjoyed ourselves, are Joie de Vivre, Café des Amis, The Blue Dog Café, Prejean’s & Reve (since we needed to go there to purchase more of the delicious coffee Jen had introduced us to). We took a morning swamp tour on Sunday, had brunch afterwards in town, & took a long peaceful nap at the house before leaving town. Bliss. Jen was a remarkable host, very sweet & thoughtful. I can’t say enough how happy my husband & I are to have stumbled upon this quiet place to retreat to as often as we get the chance.
When you turn onto Lawless Tauzin Road, your first sight will be tranquil oak trees draped with Spanish moss. The Bonne Terre farm house sits back off of the road nestled in a grove of trees. The house itself is well adorned with everything a vacationer might need. If there’s anything you’ve forgotten or are missing, Jennifer is a quick phone call or text away, happy to help.
The house is a spacious two bedroom, two bath with a dining room and a kitchen pleasing to any home chef. The fridge was stocked with a breakfast items, half n half for our coffee and assorted soft drinks. The beds are comfy and towels are plush. The hardwood floors reminded me of my grandfather’s house, softly creaking as you walk….bringing back loving memories of years gone by. At the front of the house is a sun room with screened windows and a view of animals on the property: horses, goats, chickens and a cow. It’s such a peaceful place to sip your morning coffee (Jennifer brought us fresh coffee beans from a local shop) or afternoon glass of wine. The open back porch has a lovely morning breeze and there is a hammock, tire swing and traditional swing hanging from trees in the back yard.
The country house at Bonne Terre is an inviting, tranquil and amazingly comfortable home set in the heart of Cajun country. You’ll enjoy the quiet countryside but be within short driving distance of several wonderful cities offering Cajun culture, fabulous dining, wonderful music and some of the friendliest folks on earth. Hostess Jen is so hospitable and will assist with anything you need.
If you’re looking for a comfortable, peaceful getaway, this is the perfect spot. And your hostess couldn’t be any nicer.
This house is gorgeous and Jen has thought of everything. From the placement of furniture to make sure that each area is comfortable and welcoming to the amazingly well stocked kitchen with everything you’ll ever need to enjoy feasting during your stay and books, DVDs and anything you’d need to while away the hours relaxing. Her attention to detail extends well beyond the house to the entire property, which is beautiful. Jen is the ultimate hostess who believes in gracious living.
